The MacCabre Family will return for their 31st year in 2023, 13th at their Monessen location! Note that the location changed over a decade ago from Bealsville to Monessen. Castle Blood refreshes their adventure tour each year (like Night of the Vampire, The Dark is Calling and Beware the Moon). Each year there are new attractions to the tour, which is more of an interactive experience and not as much of a blood and gore traditional haunted house.
The West Deer Nightmare
Colorado, like the broader West, is rooted in myth. In legends that seem to grow larger as the years go on. Spooky Light Show comes from the same company behind the popular Christmas in Color light show attraction, which is entering its sixth year this November.
Allen’s Haunted Hayride & Tavern of Terror

Many things have changed since the start of the pandemic. Social distancing requirements have put the kibosh on a lot of beloved events, including several long-running local haunts. Luckily, there’s a new haunt coming to town – and it doesn’t require you to get out of your car. Read on for all the details, and make sure to check out the video at the end of the article. The Tour-Ed Mine & Museum reopened the Haunted Mine in 2021! This attraction was discontinued nearly a decade ago, so it is great to have it back.

In previous years there were also spooky and Halloween-themed shows and movies at the fabulous Strand Theater all October long. Each year around Halloween, Westmoreland County rotates Hobgoblin Hikes throughout its county parks. Come for a FREE, guided tour through the haunted park woods. The hike is about 1/2 mile long, passing through mazes and cemeteries to various scare stations.

Urban Legends of Southern California will roll into the OC Fair & Event Center most evenings in October. The experience will translate bits of spooky folklore into a series of special effects and creature-filled sets, plus three interactive show zones that you can park inside of. Our Drive-Thru Drive-In is an expedition through your favorite scary movies.
Halloween Night Drive features creepy clowns, gruesome graveyards, animus aliens, and even a choose-your-own-adventure option at the end for those who need even more of a scare. The mile-long journey features hundreds of themed displays and is fun for all ages. While there are spooky aspects, the experience isn't designed to bring the same terror found at a haunted house. The main event is the 45-minute Nightmare Tour of the local area, with guides providing “real” ghost stories and accounts of the local area as you tour the towns by bus.

The glow was an all-ages, non scary walking trail, lit by over 5,000 hand carved pumpkins! The trail was 1/3 mile long, and is stroller friendly. The following haunted houses had a good run, but are no longer around. They are being included for the sake of nostalgia, but also to confirm that they are indeed closed. Trundle Manor is not a seasonal haunted attraction, but more like a bizarre private collection. An “art house / tourist trap” that is open year-round.
Our team of dedicated professionals and talented actors work tirelessly to create an atmosphere of fear, suspense, and excitement. We strive to deliver a truly unforgettable experience, leaving you with cherished memories and a sense of exhilaration long after you’ve left our haunted grounds. Purchase your tickets here for any night 5-11 pm in the month of October. This year, instead of the annual haunted hayride, a pandemic-friendly drive-through will be offered.
Is Nashville's Legendary Ryman Auditorium Haunted By the Ghosts of Country Stars?
This was a walking tour of the grounds, focused on 18th century history. This event was recommended for those 12 and older. This event was not listed for 2023, so not sure yet if this is happening again. Tickets, which should be purchased in advance, will be timed, guests will remain inside their vehicles, and select nights will feature early bird prices. Several theme park happenings, including the Queen Mary's Dark Harbor and Knott's Scary Farm, have been canceled, and other Halloween-style events are postponing to 2021. This list includes hayrides, trails and other Halloween attractions across western Pennsylvania. There are plenty in the Pittsburgh area to choose from, ranging from basic haunted houses with simple Halloween decorations to hayrides, to full-scale festivals with bonfires, bands and concessions. Some of these attractions are OK for kids, but be sure to visit the haunted house’s website to determine if they are kid friendly.
All proceeds benefit the Historical Society’s Keep the Museum Open campaign. This Halloween attraction includes a haunted hayride, corn maze and several haunted walk-through attractions, out in the middle of a 650-acre farm site. Each year there are new layouts, and the attraction is physically demanding! For children and “wimpy adults”, Cheeseman Fright Farm also features daytime hayrides, hay jumps and a petting zoo as part of their “Pumpkin Festival” during daylight hours.
Previously it took place at the old Blythe house at the famed 808 Main Street address, or at Chess Park; call for details for this year. The walk concludes with refreshments and a chance to discuss the tour. In years past they have hosted a Masquerade Ball, a History and Myths program, and a Spell-a-Bration, a must for magic fans!
Past seasons have included pumpkins, corn stalks, coffins, a kitchen scene, an interesting shower scene and a freezer for body parts. Watch out for creepy monsters that are sometimes lurking around, waiting to surprise you! New for 2023 is the Windmill Medical Academy, which will be open and accepting body parts, with a Medical Academy dropouts cemetery! The course is suitable for all ages, but it is probably best to bring the youngest children during daylight hours. There will also be a family-friendly midway with concessions and games, live music on select nights or a DJ.
